These past few weeks I’ve really started thinking about Internet marketing and other ideas to make some near passive online income in the next 6 or so months. I’ve been reading many of the forums, downloaded a few e-books, read a lot of other blogs and have developed a few ideas of my own.
I’ll be sharing this as much as I can on this blog for everyone to read, and hopefully start making money too. Of course, I won’t be sharing everything, some things have to be left up to you like your niches, keywords and other ‘special’ things.
So where was I, oh yes, talking about getting in gear to develop a solid plan for future site development and monitization on the Internet.
One of the first things I did tonight was round up all my domains, and login to each domain registrar’s interfaces. I use one for Canadian domain registrations, and one for all other registrations. I do have one stray for a .cn domain, but lets not talk about it for now, it’s secret.
Once logged into the interface, I made a simple Excel spreadsheet for domain tracking. I’m sure this will grow as my experiences grow, but this is where it is at right now for your reading pleasure.
Domain Name, Created, Expires, Host, Cost
Now, you may be asking yourself, why is this anything useful?
Well, for a couple reasons.
- Determine yearly expenditures on domain registrations.
- Determine when each domain is up for renewal at a quick glance.
- Older domains are generally more respected by search engines. Maybe you forgot about some old domains?
- Find Keywords in Forgotten domains or trends in your domains that are working for SEO/SEM.
Of course, this is probably totally newb advice, but I’m sure many people don’t think of doing simple things like this to get started. Now I have a complete blueprint of all my domains, and potential opportunities for each of them. Good luck with your endeavors.
Let me know if you have any other ideas to add to the spreadsheet, or comments in general on the post below.
