Shutdown Linux from Windows Remotely using SSH Host keys

Today I wanted to go about fixing my Windows Small Business Server 2003 server, which is connected via APC UPS along with a Gentoo Linux box running my Asterisk PBX to send a shutdown command if the power goes out. I’m not rich (yet) so I’m not able to afford a fancy UPS. Instead the one I have only has one monitoring cable. So, I had to create a way to shut down the Linux box on power failure, while also shutting down the Windows box too....

Sorry for the long time with no updates.. real life is busy 🙁 Got a new car today, check it out. Malibu Maxx LT, 2007. Sunroof, heated seats, dvd player, 6 cd changer, “skylights” in the back.. the whole 9.. wewp, look for me wardrivin around your neighbourhood soon!

Asterisk 1.4.5 SpanDSP Integration Howto

Here is a quick and dirty HowTo on getting SpanDSP to work with the latest editions of Asterisk 1.4. If you have any issues let me know in the comments and we’ll get them sorted out. First we’ll have to download the asterisk source from their site. # cd /usr/src # wget ftp://ftp1.digium.com/pub/asterisk/asterisk-1.4.5.tar.gz # tar xzvf asterisk-1.4.5.tar.gz Now we’ll have to grab the latest SpanDSP from Soft-Switch. We’ll also have to compile this and make sure no other SpanDSP versions are available on our server....
