Tonight we were debugging a customers PBX system for them because of what seemed like a really simple issue with their company directory. As they are located in a bi-lingual area they wanted to have english and french menus available to them. They use a combination of Asterisk 1.4 and FreePBX 2.5. With this software they already had the Languages module available to them, so they were able to create one main IVR, and then several branching IVR’s dependant on the language that was selected....

We’ve just recently replaced our company PBX with FreePBX and Asterisk 1.4. We were getting complaints about format_mp3 and how it plays the same song, from the beginning every time you put someone on hold. This weekend I enlisted the help of a programmer friend of mine to help me make FreePBX / Asterisk 1.4 capable of taking md5secrets for the password, instead of just the unencrypted secret field. I’m not sure why FreePBX doesn’t include this functionality already, I suppose the developers don’t see a need in password security for their peers, but we do! It wasn’t very hard to get this done, and we’ve submitted a patch to FreePBX....

Hi Guys, With the help of one of my contractors Eli Sand, we’ve developed a little howto for FreePBX and Ubuntu. This should work on LTS and Regular versions of Ubuntu with minimal changes.
